Spring Fling Delivers Exciting Weekend of Baseball

The 2016 Spring Fling hosted by Triple Play Tournaments at the Pacific Youth Association proved to be a huge success.  Bracket play on Sunday proved to offer plenty of exciting moments for both players and fans.

The #1 and #2 seeds navigated their way through bracket play in the 11u division to see the Hillsboro Hawks win a close one over the #1 seed STL Force, 13-12.  The STL Force narrowly edged out the Giants in their semi-final game with a 11-10 victory.

The 14u finale didn’t provide for as much drama as the Fastenal Wildcats defeated the Storm, 14-0 to capture the championship.  The Wildcats were hot all day Sunday defeating the Ellisville Eagles 9-1 in the semi final game in bracket play after playing to a 6-6 tie on Saturday vs. the Eagles.

As impressive as the Washington Rage offense was, their defense proved key to their run in the Spring Fling. The Rage allowed only 7 runs through 3 games in the 8u Machine Pitch division, against teams that were putting the ball in play consistently.

After advancing past the Sullivan Sluggers in their opening round game Sunday morning, the #1 seed Rage faced the Missouri Stixx.  The Stixx defeated the Bombers 19-7 in the early 8:30am game Sunday morning.

On the other side of the 8u bracket, the STL Dawgs continued their hot play defeating the Crush, 13-1.  The win set up a rematch between the top two teams from Pool B between the STL Dawgs and Raptors.

Both favorites would ultimately advance to the championship game, presenting a STL Dawgs vs. Washington Rage finale.  The STL Dawgs defeated the Washington Rage, 14-11 to capture the 2016 Spring Fling.
